To See & To Be Seen – Local Non-Profit Prepares Fashion Show to Benefit Under-served Youth
Believe it or not, Spokane’s very own Runway Renegades is in its 11th year! And believe me when I tell you this isn’t just any fashion show. Each year, members of Spokane’s Fashion Community get together to put on a one of a kind event that has grown to become the largest Independent Fashion Show in the Pacific Northwest. Runway Renegades is a non-competitive fashion event that strives to feature local creativity in the Inland Northwest. They provide an opportunity to local artists, designers, stylists, photographers and more who want to showcase what they do, while raising money for a variety of local charities.
The show will feature six local designers who’ve created their designs for the runway from scratch or upcycling, re-purposing and re-creating clothing from thrift stores. Each designer will bring something unique and create looks that stick to a theme of their own choosing. There’s something for everyone here, no matter your age, style or ethnicity. Take for example how one of this year’s designers, Lynne Blackwood, is titling her theme as “Kurt Cobain – Grunge Grows Up” which she claims is a tribute to the late singer of Nirvana.
The Runway Renegades Foundation will use proceeds from their annual show to provide grants to members of our local creative community to continue pursuing their dreams. In exchange, the recipient of the grant will share their talents with at-risk youth in the Spokane area. Please join them in supporting not only the arts in Spokane, but young men and women in our community. Don’t miss the 11th annual Runway Renegades Fashion Show on Saturday, September 15th at Riverside Place, in Spokane!
